The Master in Biotechnology and Bioengineering is a potentially useful postgraduate program for graduates in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Dentistry, Environmental Sciences, Food Science and Technology, Pharmacy, Physics, Medicine and Veterinary Medicine; as well as Agricultural, Chemical, Computer, Industrial, Materials and Telecommunications engineering. 

 

It’s a unique opportunity to obtain professional research training and access to PhD programmes, due to its multidisciplinary approach and the importance of laboratory work during the course.

This interdepartmental programme brings together teaching activities in areas of knowledge in which lines of research excellence are developed at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche. During the course, students will be able to participate in the research projects of the involved Institutes: the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology and the Institute of Bioengineering.

Biotechnology is currently revolutionizing different areas such as health, agriculture, food or environmental protection, allowing us to address new challenges that were unthinkable until recent decades and accelerating the achievement of results. 

Bioengineering takes place in a large multidisciplinary framework of scientific and technological areas. Through integrated and coordinated research, these fields complement each other to develop basic technologies, new products and new applications that improve quality of life while generating wealth and welfare.

Why study this master?

Joint training in Biotechnology and Bioengineering has a high potential and economic interest due to the growing applications of these disciplines in many industries and sectors. Therefore, the design of this Master will contribute to the formation of highly specialized scientists capable of tackling problems by applying multidisciplinary approaches, significantly adding to society's wealth, quality of life and well-being.

Este máster destaca por su carácter experimental, puesto que la mitad de los créditos se obtienen realizando el TFM en los laboratorios de investigación. Los alumnos tienen la oportunidad de participar en trabajos de investigación durante todo un año, lo que les permite adquirir experiencia práctica en diversas técnicas e incluso conseguir publicaciones de su trabajo. También existe la posibilidad de acudir a congresos a presentar resultados.
